JOHN MURAWSKI, Staff Writer
The N.C. State Energy Office was awarded $30.4 million Thursday, the first installment of $76 million in federal stimulus money that the agency will receive to create jobs and promote energy savings.
The U.S. Department of Energy announced the award as part of $154 million released to four states.
The money awarded Thursday covers money for no- and low-interest loans, grants and worker training designed to stimulate investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.
The Energy Department this week issued $5.9 million to N.C. State University for advanced nuclear research.
